During February-March, COERR Mae Hong Son and Mae Sarieng organized Disaster Risk Reduction Training and fire break making. On February 7, 2020, COERR Mae Hong Son provided materials such as brooms, etc. to enable volunteers to cut off bush and clear path to make a gap to slow or stop the progress of a bushfire.
COERR Mae Sarieng also organized the Saturday Activities. “Volunteers for Fire Break Making” in Ban Mae Lama Luang Shelter, Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province. There were 206 youth, consisting of 101 female and 105 male, participating.
This Volunteers for Fire Break Making enabled youth to work hard with dedication for the mutual benefit of their community and caused them to be proud of their effort.
During March 3-6, 2020, COERR Mae Sarieng organized an intensive training of trainers in Disaster Risk Reduction for 55 displaced persons in Ban Mae Lama Luang Temporary Shelter. The training curriculum was provided by a team of trainers from Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Offices.
Later, on March 19, a number of these trainees have shared their DRR intensive curriculum in a training organized at Ban Mae La Oon Temporary Shelter, in which 275 displaced persons, of 138 female and 137 male attended to learn about awareness and preparedness for disasters and reduction of the impacts.
Frequent disasters happened in border temporary shelters are coldspell, rainstorm, flashfloods, landslides, drought and wild fire, etc.
In order to prevent loss of poperties and lives; the following measures should be in place: watch out the warning signs of natural disasters, identify the safe areas in case of need for movement; have first aid unit with survival kits, as well as fire extinguishers in case of fire happening, etc. Warning system such as hand-operated sirens are necessary to be installed to ensure that everyone is aware and ready for coping with incidents that may occur any time.

On March 4, 2020, the training were about Rope Rescue Technics and First Aid
On March 5, 2020, the trainings were about Incident Command System (ICS) as a standardized approach to command, control and coordinate multiple resources in emergency response to save lives and properties; evacuation and fire drill.
On March 6, 2020 the trainings were about Fire Extinguishment and First Aid.
The DRR Intensive Curriculum Training for youth was organized at Ban Mae La Oon,Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province on March 19, 2020.
